Are all oils the same ?

No, definately not. While all oils may look similar there is a dramatic difference in quality and price.  You cannot expect an oil thats sells for $6 a litre to be the same as those that sell for more than $100 a Litre.

While oil life/service intervals are influenced by many factors, all Oils degrade with time and use.
In general terms the cheaper mineral based oils will degrade quicker than the more exensive Synthetic Oils.
Based on normal use, we would generally recommend the following service intervals be used as a guide to give your engine the longest life possible.

Basic Mineral Oils be changed every          3-5000km
Semi Synthetic Oils be changed every        7-10,000km
Full Synthetic Oils be changed every          10-13,000km

Many car owners manuals will suggest service intervals greater than these, however its our option, these should be used as MINIMUM levels.
Oils are the life blood of your engine. It cools, lubricates and cleans you engine from the inside.
With time oil doesnt only degrade, but it also gets contaminated by fuel, dirt, fibers and microscopic metal fragments.
Cheap oils will dump these contaminates on the walls of your engine, while expensive full Syn oils will keep these items suspended and circulating until its dumped from your engine and replaced with nice clean new oil.
